Vaccine
Canine Distemper-Adenovirus Type 2-Parainfluenza-Parvovirus Vaccine, Modified Live Virus
Contents: Progard-5 is a modified live virus vaccine containing attenuated strains of canine distemper virus, adenovirus type 2, parainfluenza virus and parvovirus grown in the Pro-Cell Stable Cell Line. Progard-5 is presented in a desiccated, single dose form with sterile diluent provided for reconstitution.
The attenuated distemper virus strain used in Progard-5 is the Onderstepoort strain. The parvovirus component is patented* CPV Strain 154 which is an attenuated parvovirus strain of canine origin. The unique InterTek production process has made it possible to produce Progard-5 with high titered CPV and CDV components which are highly immunogenic.
The Manhattan strain of adenovirus type 2 in Progard-5 confers protection against canine infectious hepatitis caused by CAV-1 as well as infectious tracheobronchitis caused by CAV-2. Use of the Manhattan strain of CAV-2 provides dual protection without the adverse reactions associated with CAV-1, such as corneal edema ("blue eye").
Contains gentamicin as a preservative.
Indications: Progard-5 is for the vaccination of healthy dogs against canine distemper virus infection, canine infectious hepatitis caused by CAV-1, canine respiratory infection caused by CAV-2, canine parainfluenza virus infection and canine parvovirus infection.
Dosage and Administration: Aseptically reconstitute desiccated vaccine vial with sterile diluent provided and administer 1 mL by subcutaneous or intramuscular route.
