What size deShedding tool do I need for my pet?
The larger tools are more efficient while the smaller tools are more versatile. The edge of each tool is identical so the only difference is the edge width. The larger tool will remove more hair per stroke, so on larger dogs it would be more efficient to use the Medium or Large Yellow tool, while using the Small Blue tool on small dogs and cats.
Can the FURminator deShedding tool be used on my dog breed?
The can be used on all shedding breeds. A few breeds that would not be helped with the deShedding tools are Poodles, Shitzus, Maltese, Bichons, Portuguese Water Dogs, and Irish Water Spaniels.
How does the tool work?
The FURminator deShedding tool is designed to gently pull away the undercoat without cutting, leaving the shiny topcoat intact.
How often do I need to use the tool?
The undercoat grows back in about 4-6 weeks. If used for 10-15 minutes once a week, you can reduce shedding up to 90%.
Do I ever need to replace or sharpen the tool's edge?
Under normal conditions you should never have to replace the edge. The small blue tool's edge is non-removable, but the medium and large yellow tool offer the option of replacement if damaged from non-normal conditions.
