Administration as a supplement for dogs:
The recommended initial administration period is four to six weeks. Your dog may respond in a shorter period of time. At this time you can decrease the number of Cosequin DS capsules to the maintenance level. The capsules can be pulled apart and the contents sprinkled on the pet’s food. Wet or moist food is preferred to ensure that the pet gets the entire amount.

Initial 4 to 6 week administration period:

10 to 24 lbs	1 capsule daily (½ in the morning & ½ in the evening) (under 10 lbs, ½ daily)
25 to 49 lbs	2 capsules daily (1 in the morning & 1 in the evening)
50 to 100 lbs	3 capsules daily (2 in the morning & 1 in the evening)
over 100 lbs	4 capsules daily (2 in the morning & 2 in the evening)

Maintenance level:

10 to 24 lbs	½ capsule daily
25 to 49 lbs	1 capsule daily
50 to 100 lbs	1-2 capsules daily
over 100 lbs	2 capsules daily

Once consistent improvement has been seen, these maintenance levels may be reduced to an every other day administration. The maintenance level can also be used long term on normal dogs to help keep their joints healthy.
